Joan C. Strobel, age 57, of Canton, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 in her home following a brief illness. Daughter of the late Stephen and Loretta (Logue) Pohovey. She was a life resident of the Canton area and a 1965 graduate of Perry High School. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Massillon, formerly active with the Richville Baseball Association, served as a Cub Scout leader for 15 years and past president of both Perry Football Mothers Club and TOPS. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Reikowski and Judy Pohovey. Survived by her husband, Vaughn Strobel to whom she was married 39 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Paul Pesut of Green; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Christopher Strobel of Canton, Douglas and Dawn Strobel of Navarre; one granddaughter, Paige E. Strobel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Dorothy Pohovey of Beach City, James and Joan Pohovey of Canton; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and John Lemon of Massillon; 21 nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church where the funeral procession will form with Rev. Edward Gretchko as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave.
