Joan A. Gates, age 71, of Louisville, passed away Thursday October 23, 2008 in The Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness. She was born September 22, 1937 in Canton, to the late John and Grace (Miller) Posey. Joan was a 1955 graduate of McKinley High School. She was a Louisville resident for the past 6 years, prior to which she had resided in Paris, OH. for 26 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donnie C. Gates Sr. in 2000; her grandson, Gregory L. Desper Jr. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Vickie and Greg Desper of North Benton, OH, Donnie C. Gates Jr. of Louisville, Kimberly and Roger Burkhardt of Easley, SC; seven grandchildren, Keeley, Kevin, Donnie C. III, Jodi, Kaurie, Christian and Carey; five great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Anne Posey of Louisville. Funeral services will be Tuesday October 28, 2008 at 10:00am in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Terry Bailey officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
