Jean A. Slicker

Age 70, of East Canton died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 due to injuries sustain in a single car auto accident. Born April 29, 1945 in Canton, Ohio to the late Per Lee Jr. and Vera (Andrews) Slicker. She was a life resident of the East Canton area and was a retired teacher from Louisville City Schools in 1997 after 30 years. Jean was a member of Paradise United Church of Christ where she served as past president of the Consistory and was a member of the choir for many years. She was a life member of the National Education Association and also a member of the Ohio, Louisville and East Central Ohio Education Associations. Jean was a Jennings Scholar and a Charter Member of the Delta Upsilon of Delta Kappa Gamma. A member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association where she served as the Eastern Area Vice President. Jean was past president of the Northeast Ohio Angus Association and a member of the American and Ohio Angus Associations. She was former member of the Ohio Angus Auxiliary and a former advisor of the Mapleton Agriculture 4H Club. Jean also serves as the President of the Stark County Agriculture Society. Preceded in death by one brother, David Slicker. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Gladys Slicker of East Canton; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 16, 2015 at 10:00 am in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev Ray Deuring officiating. Interment in Mapleton Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
