Janet L. "Jan" Van Voorhis
Age 89, passed away Wednesday November 5, 2014 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. She was born December 14, 1924 in Canton to the late Clarence and Lucille (Bennett) Davis. Jan was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and graduated Summa Cum-laude from Madonna College. She formerly had resided in Canton and Florida. Jan was a retired school teacher. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, M. Russell Van Voorhis in 2012; one son, David R. Van Voorhis; three sisters, Ann Barnes, Gretchen Chick and Eileen Betz; three brothers, Paul, Robert and Richard Davis; one grandson. She is survived by four children, Paul R. Van Voorhis of Fairfield, FL, Cheryl L. Shull of Smyrna, TN, Gary J. Van Voorhis of Dandridge, TN and Janet E. Van Voorhis of Hayden, ID; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marian Allison of N. Canton, Judith Krause of Louisville and Susan Reicosky of Bowling Green, OH; one brother, Dean Davis of Akron, OH. A graveside service will be Thursday November 13, 2014 at 1:00pm in Indian Run Cemetery with Terry Bailey officiating.
