James W. Nycum
James W. Nycum, age 61, of Canton died Friday September 5, 2008 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born August 25, 1947 in Uniontown, PA. to the late James W. and Zella M. (Linderman) Nycum. He was a Canton area resident most of his life and a former minister for many years. James was a Vietnam U.S. Marine veteran and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the DAV, lifetime member of the VFW and America Legion. James enjoyed model railroading and slot car racing. Survived by his wife of 15 years, Beverly J. (Hayes) Nycum; three step sons and spouses, Robert Hester of Canton, James and Brenda Hester of East Sparta, Joe and Joy Hester of Louisville; one step daughter and spouse, Christina and Don Gutscher of Alabama; nine step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; twin sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and William Meister of North Canton; one niece and spouse, Christy and Dominick Tracy of North Canton; one nephew, Gregory Meister of Massillon; several grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday Sept. 9, 2008 at 1:00 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Dan Deem officiating. Interment with military honors in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
