James R. Merryman
James R. Merryman, age 70, of East Canton, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2005 in his home surrounded by his family, following an extended illness. Born September 7, 1934, in Canton, OH, he was a 1952 graduate of Lehman High School. He served with the Army Paratroopers from 1953 to 1956 and was a member of the Teamsters Local #92. He retired from Fleming Foods in 1997 after 28 years of service. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Merryman; one brother, Robert "Jug" Merryman and his step-father, Chester Brooks. Survived by his wife, Ann Shepherd-Merryman; four daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Bill McGrady of Massillon, Debbie Marsh of Massillon, Tracy and Tom Lumpp of Louisville, Holly and Dave Rhodes of Canton; his mother, Arlene Brooks of N. Canton; 9 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one step-daughter and her husband, Leanne and Doug Voshel of Massillon; two step-sons, Gary Shepherd and Johnna Andres of Navarre, Kevin Shepherd and his wife, Amy of Plain City, OH; 6 step-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Harry Jordan of Louisville; one half brother and his wife, George and Maryann Merryman of South Bend, IN; step-mother, Margaret Merryman of Louisville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, East Canton, with Rev. Jenna Brown officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tuesday 5-8pm in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church (10:00-11:00am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice at 7568 Whipple Ave NW, N. Canton, OH 44720, or to St. Paul's United Church of Christ at 306 W. Church St, East Canton, OH 44730.
