James L. McWhorter Jr
Age 64, of Canton died Wednesday December 26, 2018 in the Cleveland Clinic following a battle with Mesothelioma that he contracted from exposure to asbestos while serving in the Navy. Born February 6, 1954 in Ft Sill, OK to James L. and Jolene D. (Barclay) McWhorter. He was a Canton resident since 1955 and a 1973 graduate of Canton South High School. He was retired from the U.S. Navy having served during the Gulf War. He was also formerly employed with WULFF Enterprises. James was a member of Howenstine Christian Church. Jim was an outdoorsman and loved adventures. He was brave, determined, strong and tender hearted. Jim loved practical jokes and his boys, Timothy and David, were his pride and joy. Preceded in death by his mother, Jolene McWhorter. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Pamela L. (Tusing) McWhorter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Bridget McWhorter, David and Sarabeth McWhorter; four grandchildren, Kassandra, Mackenzie, Kayla and Morgan; his father, James McWhorter; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sandi McWhorter; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dori and Patrick Himes, Carrie and Joe Kostic; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, Dec 31, 2018 at 1:00 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave with Chris Davis officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 6 – 8 pm.
