James Gordon McCollum
Age 87, of Canton, passed away Tuesday August 2, 2016 in Altercare of Navarre. He was born in Monroe County, OH to the late Walter and Ella (Smith) McCollum. He retired from The Timken Company in 1982 after 36 years of service. He was a life member of the Mapleton Gun Club, NRA and served as an instructor at the Tusco Rifle Club. James was a very philanthropic man, supporting many charities and organizations throughout his life. He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. (Stoneman) to whom he was married 67 years; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Johnson, Cindy and Ken Wise; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; a close friend and extended family member, Cliff McPeak. Friends will be received Saturday August 20, 2016 from 3-5pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. There are no other services.
