James Mathias “Wimpy” Jaeb
Age 86, formerly of Canton, passed away Friday May 13, 2022. He was born June 25, 1935 in Canton to the late Clemens and Elizabeth (Steffens) Jaeb. He was a 1953 graduate of Canton McKinley High School and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He married Anita (Medal) on June 7, 1958 and they shared 59 years together until her passing on March 30, 2018. Wimpy retired from Fame Beverage in 1989 after 30 years of service. He played baseball and fumbleball for 51 years and was inducted into the fumbleball Hall Of Fame. He was an avid golfer and loved watching his grandchildren play sports as they grew. Wimpy was the beloved maintenance worker at Windmill Village Community in Jensen Beach, Fl. where he resided for the past 9 years. The family would like to thank his many friends and neighbors who helped him in so many ways through the years. Wimpy loved his community in Jensen Beach and will be missed. A special thank you to Joann Brazee for her love and support since the passing of Anita 4 years ago. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by one brother, Francis “Bud” Jaeb; three sisters, Lucille Scanlon, Rita Gustin and Dorothy Inman. Wimpy is survived by four children, Stephanie (Mark) Ehret, Sheryl (Rick) Smith, Renee (Jeff) Edwards and Jimmy (Michele) Jaeb; seven grandchildren, Andy (Britnie) Ehret, Kyle (Meg) Ehret, Ryan (Brianna) HeiSmith, Emily Paul, Jason Smith, Jeffrey Edwards and Colby Jaeb; three great-grandchildren, James, Carter and Daniel Ehret; two brothers, Donald (Betty) Jaeb and Charles (Nancy) Jaeb; one sister, Margie Mizer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday May 28, 2022 at 10:00am in St. Joseph Church in Massillon with Fr. Raymond L. Paul as celebrant.
