James Robert Horger
Age 80, of East Canton died Monday, October 21, 2013 in his home following a brief illness. Born October 5, 1933 in New Philadelphia, Ohio to the late John Charles and Helen (Henderson) Horger. He was an East Canton resident most of his life and a 1952 graduate of East Canton High School. Bob was a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran. He retired from Republic Steel in 1984 after 32 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Loners on Wheels, Family Motor Coach Association, VFW Post #184 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1179 both in Florida. Preceded in death by his wife, Velma Elaine Horger in 2005 and one granddaughter, Laura Volpe. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Molly and Joe Volpe of East Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Diana Horger of Akron, Michael and Jamie Horger of Paris, OH; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Lou Horger of Louisville. Following Bob's wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the Aultman Hospice Program, 2821 Woodlawn Ave. N.W., Canton, OH. 44708.
