James H. Green
Age 80, passed away from his earthly life to his eternal home on Monday January 12, 2015. He was born in Cooperdale, OH on June 2, 1934 to the late Clarence and Edna (King) Green. He lived his entire life in the Canton South area and was a 1952 graduate of Canton South High School. He was a graduate of Trine University (formerly Tri-State) in Angola, IN. Jim was a busy and hard worker all of his life. As a young lad he mowed grass for the neighbors, delivered the Repository; and at 16 years of age he began work at Lehmiller's Hardware in North Industry. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served from 1954-1956. In October 1960, he began his career as a mechanical engineer at The Timken Company from which he retired after 32 years of service. Following retirement he began volunteering. For 10 years he served as assistant treasurer for a travel group, Leisure Lees at North Industry Christian Church. He served as assistant treasurer for Canton South AARP Chapter #4885; he was a member and currently served as church accountant for North Industry Christian Church. On July 9, 1955 Jim married his high school sweetheart, Shirley L. (Barto) who survives him. He is also survived by a sister, Betty J. Page of East Canton; two brothers, Richard C. (Barbara) Green of Waynesburg, John M. (Merilyn) Green of East Sparta; many nieces and nephews, and thanks to those who have been there for him in his time of need. Funeral services will be Friday January 16, 2015 at 1:30 pm in North Industry Christian Church with Steve Kimbrel officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends will be received Thursday 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and two hours before services on Friday at the church (11:30-1:30pm). The family wants to thank Aultman Compassionate Care for the love and care shown to Jim. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to North Industry Christian Church, Aultman Compassionate Care or the charity of your choice.
