James E. Cumpston
Age 83, of Canton, passed away Thursday March 30, 2017 in Aultman Compassionate Care. He was born May 30, 1933 in West Union, WV to the late John A. and Minnie G. (Yoke) Cumpston. James was a Korean War Army veteran and retired from the Ohio National Guard after 27 years of service. He was a 1952 graduate of Doddridge County High School. He retired from The Timken Company in 1997 after 45 years of service. James was a member of North Industry Christian Church, Canton Township Fire Department Station #1, Local 112, SOAR, American Legion Post #244, L.E.A.F. retired Ohio Guard, Canton Veterans Council and the 11th Airborne Association. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eldra R. Cumpston in 2013; one daughter, Pamela Cumpston; two sons, James and Kevin Cumpston; grandson, Davey Dick; four sisters and one brother. James is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and David Dick; one son, Denver Cumpston; daughter-in-law, Leanne Bankert; two grandchildren, Dannette Fornash and Devan Cumpston; two great-grandsons, Simon and Miles Fornash; many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday April 3, 2017 from 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday April 4, 2017 at 1:00pm in the Spurgeon Funeral Home in West Union, WV where friends will be received 12-1pm with burial in Masonic Cemetery.
