James M. Beck
Age 88, of Canton, passed away Monday May 23, 2022 in Aultman Compassionate care following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born November 23, 1933 in East Canton to the late Jacob D. and Esther P. (Anthony) Beck. He was a 1951 graduate of East Canton High School and was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. Jim retired from the Ohio Power Company in 1994 after 31 years of service. He was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple where he served as an usher and former deacon, member of the Ambassador Sunday School, Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post #667, KWVA #4032, Julliard Lodge #470 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Tadmor Shrine, VFW Post #3747, former master of the former Sponsellor Grange, Ohio Power Retirees and served as a volunteer driver for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Lester P, Donald L. and Kenneth L. Beck. Jim is survived by his wife, Arline K. (Cartwright) to whom he was married 30 years; three children, Jeffrey T. Beck, Julie (R. Scott) Sanders and Jane (Norman) Eckinger; two stepchildren, William “Web” E. Brackin and Rena (Robert) Brook; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barbara A. Beck; several nieces and nephews and extended family members. Funeral services will be Friday May 27, 2022 at 11:00am in the Canton Baptist Temple with Pastor Jake Tovissi officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Minerva at 2:30pm with military honors. Friends and family will be received one hour before services on Friday from 10-11am in the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Canton Baptist Temple in Jim’s memory. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at www.sandersfuneralhomes.com.
