Jacob Cernik Jr.
Age 84, of Canton died Friday, June 22, 2012 in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center. Born May 25, 1928 in Canton to the late Jacob and Margaret (Solvey) Cernik. He was a life resident of Canton, a graduate of Canton McKinley High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. Jacob retired from the Ford Motor Co. in 1988 with 25 years of service. He was a member of First Church of the Resurrection and the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. Jacob loved camping, fishing at the Outer Banks of N.C. and golfing. Preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Sue Cernik; a son-in-law, Grady Hudspeth; one granddaughter, Nicole Cernik. He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Darlene Hudspeth of Canton, Susan and Lenny Dasco of Chesterland, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, Jacob A. and Valle Cernik of Canton; five grandchildren and spouses, Christa Wells, Marc and Jen Hudspeth, Leo Dasco, Alex Dasco and Jake Cernik IV; two great grandchildren, Ean and Kayden Hudspeth; two sisters and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Rudy Pirolozzi, Vonnie Crisp. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Bruce Mont officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
