Jack Pappas, age 97, of Canton Township passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was born in Welch, West Virginia to the late Pete Pappas and Glenna Lucille (Spicer) Pappas. Jack spent the last 72 years as a resident of Canton.
After graduation from high school Jack joined the United States Army serving in many roles most notable as one of the elite men that guarded General MacArthur, who commanded the Seventh Army in the Mediterranean Theater of World War II, and the Third Army in France and Germany after the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944. After returning home from military service, Jack went to college and began his career, which spanned decades as a self-employed entrepreneur
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; sons Gregory Pappas and Gary Pappas, a brother Robert Pappas and former wife Garnett Pappas.
Those left to cherish Jack’s memories are his daughter Gina [Pappas] (Steve) Neel and grandson Steven Harbourt.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes there will be no services and in lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Jack’s memory to support a veteran’s programs of your choice.
Arrangements are entrusted to Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, 4041 Cleveland Ave S. Canton, Ohio 44707. Friends and family may share condolences and memories.
