J. Emmett McCreary
J. Emmett McCreary, passed away on St. Patrick's Day in his home in Perry Township. He was born November 8, 1914, in Crestline, Ohio, to Thomas and Clara (Beck) McCreary. He was predeceased by his siblings Roland, Thomas, Clara, and Sr. Margaret Lucille. Emmett married Sophia Yakubek on June 28, 1947; she passed away August 15, 1979. He retired after more than 40 years of building and equipment maintenance service to Frito-Lay of Canton. He was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton, where he served as past-president of the senior citizens group, former Sunday School teacher, lector, cantor, server, and current choir member. He was proud of the 79 pints of blood he donated through the American Red Cross. Emmett appreciated the many friends who helped him maintain his independence to the end. His children are Valerie and David Sebald of Navarre and Elizabeth and Mark Young of Ft. Worth, TX. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Meredith Sebald of Ashland and Damien and Veronica Sebald of Florence, KY. A Celebration Mass will be Monday, March 21, 2005 at 10:00am in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Gerald Sommer, MSC, as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 5-7pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church at 1602 Market Ave S., Canton, OH 44707.
