Ira G. Morris, age 91, of Canton, died Tuesday morning in his home following a brief illness. Born June 4th, 1913, in Quaker City, OH, son of the late Joseph and Blanche Morris. He was a Canton area resident most of his life, retiring from the Timken Company where he was a truck driver with 32 years of service. Member of Golden Lodge Local #1123 and a Navy veteran where he served in World War II in 1944 and 1945. Preceded in death by his wife, Miriam, to whom he had been married 60 years; two brothers and eight sisters; one grandson, Brian Messenheimer; and great-grandson, Gregory Steven Morris. He is survived by a daughter, Sandra McHenry of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Sherryl Morris of Canton, Chuck and Kathy Morris of Canton; eight grandchildren and spouses, Steven (Dianne) Morris, Dayna (Richard) McNamara, David (Mindy) Morris, Christine (Christopher) Scarpino, Amy (Chuck) Cordes, Kimberlee Messenheimer, Kelly Messenheimer and Bill (Cheryl) McHenry, all of Canton; nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas Capalingo, Emilee Bowman, Chelsey and Andrew Scarpino, Natalie and Julie Morris, Melissa and Allison McNamara and Nathan Cordes. Funeral services will be Friday, August 13, 2004 at 10 am in the Otterbein United Methodist Church with Rev. Delaney Young and Rev. Paul Gerycz officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave.
