Ira D. Dancy, age 93, of Canton, died Friday, July 22, 2005 in St. Joseph Care Center following an extended illness. Born in Brasstown, NC on September 20, 1911 to the late John and Rachael (Hughes) Prater. Member of Canton Baptist Temple. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Dancy in 1987 and sister, Nancy Bushman. Survived by two daughters and son-in-law, June Yonce of Winston-Salem, NC, Donna and Ron Forbes of Ft. Myers, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Lee and Jeannette Dancy of Canton, John and Georgene Dancy of Canton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Ernest Skervin of Canton; one brother, Raymond Prater of Canton. Funeral services wil be Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 10 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S Cleveland Ave with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Interment in West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 5-8pm.
