Ila Vere Schweyer
Ila Vere Schweyer, age 84, of East Canton, died Wednesday September 13, 2006 in Hanover House following an extended illness. She was born in Amsterdam, OH, June 13, 1922 to the late James and Maude (Snively) Simmons. She was an East Canton resident since 1959, retiring from Fisher Foods in 1984 after 25 years of service. Ila Vere was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Magnolia. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harland D. Schweyer in 1969; one son, Harlan D. Schweyer in 1999; two brothers, Charles and James Simmons; two sisters, Mary Kohler and Maxine Beckley. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Ed Bodnar of Canton, Joan and David Dyke of Kalamazoo, MI, Kathy and Don Duerr of Canton; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Blanche Simmons of East Canton; one sister, Evelyn Albaugh of Scio, OH; a special sister-in-law, Gloria Schweyer of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Her pride was her children and their families. She was a simple but strong woman who had such a sweet and undemanding way about her that those who knew her couldn't help loving her. She will be greatly missed by all. A special thanks to her "family" at Hanover House who loved and cared for her. Funeral services will be Sunday September 17, 2006 at 3:00pm in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Pastor James Kennell officiating. A private committal service in Mapleton Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services (2-3pm). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association at P.O.
