IDA MARIE CHASTAIN LAMBERT, of Canton, passed away on September 28, 2018, after a long illness. She was a life-long resident of Canton, born March 17, 1945, to the late Timmie B. Chastain Sr. and the late Virginia Trenary Chastain. She was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Sluter and niece Lori Lambert. She was succeeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Thomas B. Lambert, who departed this life October 12, 2018. She is survived by her brother Timmie B. Chastain Jr., her brother-in-law James (Vicki) Lambert, her sisters-in-law Martha Lambert and Donna (Richard) Fujie, six nieces and three nephews, and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Ida, who was known for her great sense of humor, was a 1963 graduate of Canton South High School, where she met Thomas B. Lambert. The couple was married in April, 1965. Ida was an outdoors woman and in particular a fisherman. She caught many trophy quality fish in her long practice of angling. She was adept at crocheting and weaving. She was a quilter with a wonderful skill at choosing fabric patterns. She was well known for her cooking skills, especially fish and stuffed cabbage. She was a gardener of vegetables and flowers. She loved to decorate her home for every holiday and gave joy to the neighborhood children by coloring with them in her backyard. She kept her childlike sense of wonder her whole life. She loved to play cards and games. She was a long-time member of the Bolivar Chapter #368 OES.
She will be remembered in a service at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
