Howard L. Shaffer
Age 78, of Canton, passed away Wednesday June 14, 2017 in Bethany Nursing Home. He was born July 17, 1938 in Canton to the late Joseph and Opal (Lloyd) Shaffer. Howard was the former owner/operator of Shaffer Seed and Supply and had served as president of the former Letherman’s Seed Company. He was a member and former president of the Northern Ohio Golf Course Superintendent Association. He was an avid trap shooter and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and all outdoor activities. Howard is survived by four sons, Howard L. (Debbie) Shaffer Jr., Curt Shaffer (Sherry Massie), Scott (Christy) Shaffer and Mark (Hather) Shaffer; seven grandchildren, Danielle, Ashley, Joshua, Matthew, Jeremy, Nathan and Brayden; two brothers, Richard Shaffer and Jerry (Jane) Shaffer; two sisters, Irene Peterson and Joyce Asher; his former wife, Carol J. Shaffer. Funeral services will be Tuesday June 20, 2017 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Lance Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received Monday 6-8pm. The family would like to thank the staff of Aultman Dialysis Unit and Bethany Nursing Home for their wonderful care.
