Homer M. Collins
Age 81, of Minerva died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center following an extended illness. Born June 23, 1934 in Culberson, NC. to the late Worth and Fleecy (Fisher) Collins. He was a Minerva resident for the past 9 years prior to which he resided in East Sparta. Homer retired from the Timken Company in 1995 with 42 plus years of service. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by one daughter, Jo Ann Collins; one granddaughter, Angela Holly Salkeld; one brother, Kenneth Collins. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Julia R. (Weaver) Collins; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Patricia Collins of Minerva; two grandchildren, Teresa (Christopher) Sines of Minerva, Justin (Melissa) Collins of Canton; four great grandchildren, Jasmine, Madison, Morgana and Steve; two brothers, Dewey (Gail) Collins of Canton, GA, W.C. (Judy) Collins of Mineral Bluff, GA; one sister, Nettie Alice (Rev. Frank) Fisher of Epworth, GA; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan 11, 2016 at 12:00 pm in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 6011 Faircrest St. SW, Canton, OH. 44706, with Pastor Larry Brown officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 pm in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and one hour prior to the service on Monday from 11-12 pm.
