Helen L. Gines
Age 75, of Canton went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Heather Ridge Assisted Living Community following an extended illness. Born January 13, 1935 in Keensburg, IL. to the late Clyde and Bessie Viola (Holloman) Strothers. She was a Canton area resident for 40 years and a member of Congregational United Church of Christ where she served on the communion committee. Helen formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Teacher at the Congregational Christian and Plain View Baptist Churches. Helen was a loving homemaker who enjoyed baking and sewing for her family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gines, in 2002; three brothers and seven sisters. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Hank Schaeffer of East Canton; one son, Roger Gines of Massillon and his fiancé, Sheila Sisler of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren and spouses, Erica and Charles Riley, Sarah and Chris Miculan, Paul Gines, Stephanie and Tim Yates; six great grandchildren, Josephine, Garrett and Ian Riley, Julia and Audrey Miculan, Owen Yates; one sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Kenneth Howell, Sr. of Keensburg, IL; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2010 at 1:00 pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev. Dr. John States officiating. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities- Special Olympics.
