Gardiner, Helen Elizabeth
Age 93, of Canton passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 in Altercare of Nobles Pond. Born October 16, 1915 in Sewellsville, OH. to the late Everett and Hazel Haines. In 1945, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter D. Price the father of her children, and in 1991 by her second husband, Frank A. Gardiner. She is also preceded in death by a grandson, John Gardiner; granddaughter, Trina Jones Crawford; great-grandson, Harrison Schott; son-in-law, Charles Jones, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Rosa and William Huffman. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Mabel and Robert Wurst of Ft. Myers, FL., Elsie and Scott Oelslager of North Canton, Beverly Jones of Ontario, OH., June and Joseph Schott of Canton, Wanda Weinand of Canton; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Helen was an excellent seamstress and was formerly employed by the Campus Shirt Factory in Barnesville, OH, and Noble's Tailors in Canton. She retired from the Canton Provision Company. Following retirement she enjoyed many winters in Florida and summers at Lake Erie. Spending time with family, arts and crafts, singing and playing the piano/organ were among her favorite pastimes. Helen was a long time member of the Canton Baptist Temple and also a member of the Jolly Sixties and the Overcomers Group. Over the years, many holidays and family gatherings were held at her home, and wonderful memories of those very special times are shared by family members. She will be sadly missed and warmly remembered. Her strength will never be forgotten. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Drs. Virgil and Michael Tirmonia for the many years of wonderful care they provided for their mother. Private services were Friday, March 6, 2009 in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Rev Delaney Young officiating. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canton Baptist Temple or the charity of your choice.
