Helen Joann Bagent

Helen Joann Bagent, age 93, passed away on March 26, 2023.

She was born September 25, 1929 in Canton to Lowell and Lucille (Shew) Barnes.

Joann graduated from Canton Township High School in 1947.  She married Lawrence (Bud) Bagent in 1949 and they were happily married for 58 years.  Joann worked at the Timken Company and then raised her children before going back to work at Walker Jr. High. She then was transferred to Faircrest Jr. High when it opened and after several years, she moved to North Industry Grade School and then to Amos McDaniel Grade School until she retired.

Joann has been a member of Pike Grange for 75 years, she has volunteered at the Stark County Fair, and the Grange dinners.  Joann also enjoyed volunteering at Aultman Hospital every Friday, First Christian Church in their clothing ministry every Tuesday and Refuge of Hope.  Joann and Bud enjoyed traveling with their family. They also had a family farm.  Joann still enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is always there to help her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Linda, Bonnie (Carol) and Jim (Debbie); seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and brothers, David and Larry Barnes.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31st from 4-8pm at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home.   A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1st, at 11am at First Christian Church 6900 Market Ave. N Canton, OH 44721 with Pastor Steve Kimbrel officiating.
