Harold E. Small
Age 90, of Uniontown, passed away Tuesday January 12, 2010 in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born August 31, 1919 in New Philadelphia, OH to the late Everett and Pearl (LeMasters) Small. Harold was a Uniontown resident for the past 8 years, prior to which he had resided in Navarre for most of his life. Harold proudly served his country in WWII with U.S. Army as a machine gunner with the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded two purple hearts. He retired from McClain Grocery in 1983 after more than 30 years of service and was a member of the VFW Post #5047. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where he had been active with the Sociable Sixties and was a member of the former Navarre Ruritans. In addition to his parents, his wife, Dorothy Small in 1996; he is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Harold is survived by three children and spouses, Carolyn and Jimmie Powers of Chesapeake, VA, Richard and Kathy Small of Minerva, Debra and Richard Zellers of Hartville; five grandchildren, Laura (Bernie) Maloney, Karen (Dwight) Dunn, Heidi (David) Daniels, Natalie Zellers and Daniel Zellers; two great-grandchildren, Dorothy Nicole Dunn and Carol Lyn Dunn. Funeral services will be Friday January 15, 2010 at 11:00am in Otterbein United Methodist Church with Rev. Debra J. Speer officiating. Internment in East Union Lawn Cemetery.
