Harold J. Shearer, age 85, of East Canton, died Tuesday March 14, 2006 in Aultman Hospital. He was born August 3, 1920 in Lafferty, OH, to the late William and Martha (Beal). He was an East Canton resident for the past 50 years and was a WWII Navy Veteran. He retired from Diebold Inc. in 1980 after 28 years of service and was the former co-owner and operator of Shearer Brothers Garage in Waco. Life member of USS Indianapolis (CA-35) Survivors Organization and was an avid fisherman and photographer. Preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Survived by his wife, Mary L. (Carpenter) to whom he was married 58 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald J. and Loretta Shearer of Waynesburg, Richard A. and Virginia Shearer, Russell B. and Vickie Shearer all of East Canton; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Angela, Rick, Baron, Christina, Ryan, Morgan Shearer and Jaime Freday; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Jackson of California. Graveside services will be Monday March 20, 2006 in Mapleton Cemetery with Pastor Leland G. Spencer IV officiating. The Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. is handling arrangements.
