H. Jean Ickes
Age 74, of Canton died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in her home following a battle with Metastatic Adenocarcinoma. Born February 12, 1943 in Bowerston, Ohio to the late Cyril “Shorty” and Helen (Scott) Garner. Jean was a 1961 graduate of Conotton Valley High School where she was a cheerleader and had been a Homecoming Queen. She had hand sewed her own cheerleading uniform. Jean retired from Canton Local Schools in 2007 after driving school bus for 30 years. She was a member of North Industry Christian Church. Jean had a warm smile, was very family oriented but most of all she was a devoted wife, great mother, grandmother and friend to many. Preceded in death by one brother, Robert Garner; one sister, Evelyn Housel. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Carl E. Ickes; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Karma Ickes of Canton; one daughter, Michelle Squire of Louisville; four grandchildren, Kole, Rylee, Justin and Emily; one brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Joan Garner of Canton. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave with Stephen Kimbrel officiating. Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
