Grace L. Hendershot (Dazey)
age 83, of Canton, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 9, 2012 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Canton on August 14, 1928 to the late Charles W. and Vesta (Phillips) Dazey. She was a loving, caring mother and wife and provided a wonderful home. Grace retired from Canton City Schools (Timken High School Cafeteria) and was a member of Mineral City Church of the Nazarene. She volunteered for 23 years at the Samaritan's Table at St. John's Catholic Church in Canton where she was known as "Amazing Grace." Past member Women of the Moose Chapter #332, Canton, serving as Junior Regent, Chaplain, Senior Regent & Member of Academy of Friendship. Proceeded in death by her husband, Richard L. Hendershot in 2001; a brother Leonard C. Dazey and sister Lois Clapper. She leaves behind her four children, David Hendershot (Karen) of Canton, Vesta Zinslen (Terry) of Canton, Peggy Deems (Bob) of Florida and Ron Hendershot of Canton; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Also one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Lois Dazey of East Sparta; one sister, Vesta Reehl of Canton, numerous nieces and nephews. Grace loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A special "thank you" to Mercy Hospice for their loving, caring and compassionate support. Calling hours will be Monday, March 12, 2012 from 4 – 7 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to Church of the Nazarene, 4705 Center Street, Mineral City, OH 44656 or the Samaritan's Table, 625 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Canton, OH 44702.
