Glenda G. Mortenson
Age 82, of East Sparta died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at The Inn at Belden Village following a brief illness. Born December 7, 1933 in Canton, Ohio to the late Dayton and Freda (Sprague) Burfield. She was a life resident of the Canton/ East Sparta area. Glenda retired from J.P. Morgan Chase in 1995 after 25 years of service and had formerly been employed with Malone College for 10 years. She was a member of North Industry Christian Church where she was active with the Women of Grace. Glenda had also been involved in many capacities with the Aultman Hospice Grief Organization for many years. Preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Mortenson Sr; one son, John Frank Mortenson Jr; one brother, Donald Burfield; one sister, Lois Burgess. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Deborah Mortenson-Eckinger of Canton, Dr. Rebecca Mortenson-Meese and Thomas Meese of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren and spouses, Philip Eckinger, Jeremy Eckinger and Karey Shearer-Eckinger, Greg Eckinger, Julie Eckinger-Hollingsworth and Kevin Hollingsworth, Jeff Eckinger, Kaitlin Meese, Cody Meese; three great grandchildren, Ruby, Franklin and Walter; one sister-in-law, Irene Burfield of Canton; nieces and nephews, Brenda Cassidy, Mike Mortenson, Bob Burfield, Nancy Price, Joe Burfield, Paul Burfield, Jean Paris, Claudia Selby and Cathy Rapp. Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at 11:00 am in North Industry Christian Church, 425 45th Street SW, Canton, OH. 44706, with Stephen Kimbrel officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church from 10 – 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to North Industry Christian Church.
