Gertrude C. Spencer
Age 97, of Canton died Saturday, November 19, 2016 in her home. Born February 24, 1919 in Alvy, West Virginia to the late William E. and Emma L. (Hamilton) Baker. She was a Canton area resident since 1946. Gertrude was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ and Stepping Stones. Preceded in death by her husband, Harley D. Spencer in 1980; two infant sons, William E., and Kenneth L. Spencer; two sons, Anthony and William W. Spencer; grandson, Michael A. Spencer; brother, Wendell Baker; two sisters, Geraldine Baker and Winifard L. Baker. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald L. and Molly Spencer, James and Donna Spencer, Rodney Spencer all of Canton; 16 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Starkey and Lynna Beaber both of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at 6:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Lance Lindenberger officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Alma WV. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center or Northwest Church of Christ.
