Gerald A. Brooks
Age 94, of Canton died Monday, January 10, 2011 in the Canton Christian home following an extended illness. Born March 28, 1916 in Canton to the late Howard E. and Alma M. (Griebenow) Brooks. He was a life resident of Canton and a graduate of Canton Township High School. Gerald retired from Canton City Schools in 1979 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Zion Community Church, Canton South AARP chapter# 4885, the former Canton South Kiwanis Club, Buckeye Bacon Burners and Hettie Bair Sunday School Class. Preceded in death by two brothers, Perry and Donald Brooks; two sisters, Avis Peterson and Vivian Domer. Survived by his wife of 69 years, Marvelle (Muckley) Brooks; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ruth Brooks of Canton; three grandchildren and spouses, David and Becky Brooks of Westerville, Dr. Steven and Dr. Katie Brooks of Tallmadge, Bryan and Melissa Brooks of Canton; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Beverly and George North of Canton, Corma Toolis of Bismark, ND; one brother-in-law and spouse, Arch and Ginger Domer of Canton; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Mike Spies officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
