Gene Anthony

Age 89 of East Canton passed away Monday December 21, 2020 in Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center following complications from Covid-19. He was born April 17, 1931 in Paris, OH to the late Loren and Ruth (Krumlauf) Anthony. Gene was a 1948 graduate of Louisville High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps Korean War veteran. He retired from the U.S. Postal service in 1990 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he formerly served as trustee. Member of the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post #667, the NRA and a founding member of the renowned River Rat Club. Gene is survived by his wife, Iva June (Wendell) to whom he was married 69 years; three children, Vickie Anthony, Mark Anthony and Karen Anthony; three grandchildren, Andrew (Emily), Zac (Elizabeth) and Samantha Anthony (fiancé, Justin Hufstetler); two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Emma Anthony. A private family service with military honors was conducted in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Memorial donations may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church at 6321 Waynesburg Dr SE, Waynesburg, OH 44688.
