Frederick L. Saur
Age 85, of Elyria, passed away Friday May 4, 2012. He was born June 1, 1926 in Jersey Shore, PA to the late Harmon D. and Jane R. (Ingraham) Saur. Frederick was a Cleveland area resident most of his life and was a graduate of Ashland University and received his Masters in English from The Ohio State University. He retired from Lakewood Board of Education in 1985 after 35 years of service as an educator. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Elyria and was a WWII Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Frederick Lawrence Saur Jr. He is survived by his wife, Muriel E. Saur to whom he was married 64 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Callinan of Toledo, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, David N. and Ruth Saur of Bay Village, OH; three granddaughters, Katherine Prendergast of Covington, KY, Meredith Callinan of Rochester, NY, Kirsten Saur of Bay Village; one grandson, David A. "Drew" Saur of Bay Village; one brother, Robert Ross Saur of Chambersburg, PA. A celebration of life will be Sunday May 20, 2012 at 1:00pm in the Wesleyan Village at 807 West Ave, Elyria, OH 45213 with Rev. Elizabeth McKee officiating. A private family burial has been conducted in Robertsville Cemetery, Robertsville, OH. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
