Francis E. "Bud" Eckenweiler, age 84, of Canton, passed away Sunday April 3, 2005 surrounded by his loving and dedicated family following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 16, 1921, to the late Morris Eckenweiler and Mary Edwards, however he was raised by his maternal grandparents, Frank and Lucinda Muss. In 1939 Bud graduated from McKinley High School and soon after served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Cascade and the USS Point Cruz during WWII. He was employed in the electrical department of Republic Steel retiring in 1982. He was a 54 year member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Canton as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Martyrs Council, Rosary Altar Society, St. Mary's Seniors and Greater Canton Retirees. Bud also gathered frequently at the Mayfield Center where he loved the challenge of a good euchre game with close friends. Those who were close to him knew of his joy for tending to his tomato plants during his summers in Ohio, and fishing during his retired winters in Florida. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and Robert Sisson and brother-in-law, Lee Pittman. Survivors include his wife, Miriam (Kuntz) Eckenweiler to whom he was married for 58 wonderful years. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by three daughters, Linda of the home, Shari (Roger) Rodocker, and Patricia (Scott) Parks; grandchildren, Renae (Jack) Snyder, Carrie (Tim) Battista, Brandee (Matt) Monroe, Michael (Andrea) Morgan, Daniel Parks and Robyn Rodocker; four great grandchildren whom he loved very much, Mya Morgan, Silas and Caroline Snyder and Nash Monroe; sisters, Janice Stokey, Joan Pittman, and Marlene Mayle; numerous nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Dr. Allison Oprandi, and Aultman Hospice staff members, Carlene Miller and Margaret Robinson who provided Bud and his family with the utmost care and concern throughout his illness. A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10:00 am in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Canton with Fr. Gerald Sommer, MSC as celebrant. Internment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Aultman Hospice at 2821 Woodlawn N.W., Canton, OH 44708.
