Evelyn J. Walker
Age 79, passed away Friday June 19, 2015 in Aultman Compassionate Care. She was born July 19, 1935 in Osnaburg Township to the late Othur and Geneva (Williamson) Oberly. Evelyn was a life resident of East Canton, a 1953 graduate of East Canton High School and had attended Anderson College in Anderson, IN. She was formerly employed by the family owned and operated W.A. Walker and Son Meat Market. Evelyn was a member of the East Canton Church of God where she served as church secretary for more than 30 years, a Sunday school teacher and was very instrumental in many activities at the church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Lowell D. Oberly; one sister, Frances Long. Evelyn is survived by her husband, James L. Walker Sr. to whom she was married 58 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Duane Miller; one son and daughter-in-law, James L. Jr. and Diane Walker; five wonderful grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Hollie Richardson, Katelyn and Daniel Pontius, Michael and Karris Walker, Emily and Joshua Smith and Megan Walker; two very special great-grandchildren, Carolyn Jo Richardson and Colton James Richardson; three sisters, Marilyn Schwall, Bonnie (Bob) Weinstock and Karen (Arthur) Maxwell; three brothers, Dale (Donna) Oberly, Jerry (Sandy) Oberly and David (Liz) Oberly; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday June 23, 2015 at 11:00am in the East Canton Church of God with Pastor Greg Smith officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Louisville. Friends will be received Monday 2-4 and 6-8pm in the East Canton Church of God and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the East Canton Church of God at 201 E. Nassau St., East Canton, OH 44730.
