Evelyn N. Smith
Age 77, of Navarre and formerly of East Canton, passed away Tuesday April 12, 2011 in the Legends Care Center. She was born September 9, 1933 in Carrollton, OH to the late William John and LaVonne (Hughes) Eakin Jr. Evelyn was formerly employed by Sharon Steel for 28 years and more recently by the Aultman Hospital Primetime program for 12 years. She was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church where she had served as head of Senior Ministries and a former officer with the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Osnaburg Local School Board, Osnaburg Historical Society and past president of the Ohio Federation of Women's Club. Evelyn had participated with various choirs throughout Stark County. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William E. Smith in 2008. She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Beatrice and Gerald Booher of Dania Beach, FL, Geraldine Berry of Canton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Marilynn Eakin III of Canton, Gerald and Kay Eakin of Canton; 9 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and great-nephews whom she dearly loved. The family would like to thank the loving staff at the Legends Care Center for their wonderful care and attention. Funeral services will be Saturday April 16, 2011 at 11:00am in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in East Canton with Pastor Erik Marshall officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services on Saturday at the church (10-11am).
