Evelyn Jean McFarland
Evelyn Jean McFarland, age 74, loving wife, mother and friend to all, went to be with the lord on Wednesday August 27, 2008. Born in Alliance, Ohio on June 21, 1934 to her late parents, James Crick and Goldie Swisher. She was a 1953 graduate of Canton South High School and lived nearly her entire life in Canton Township. Evelyn took an active role in the Canton Local School system through PTA, Band Boosters and later retired as a teacher's aid where she work with special needs children who needed help to excel in the classroom. Evelyn held her faith in the Lord and dedication to the community close to the heart. She was a member of Canton Baptist Temple for over 50 years and gave of herself to help the Christian youth learn the values and beliefs she held dear. Preceded in death by her step-mother, Ruth Crick. Survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Robert Grant "Red' McFarland; two daughters, Jill McFarland, Lisa (Tom) Orr; one son, Mark (Cheryl) McFarland; four grandsons, Matthew (Kiova) Staley, Brian Staley, Jason Orr, Nathan McFarland; two great grandchildren, Tavin and Mikayla Staley; one step-brother, Charles Swisher. Funeral services will be Wednesday Sept. 3, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 – 8 pm.
