Eugene H. Steenrod, age 82, of Canton, died Thursday May 13, 2004 in Manor Care following an extended illness. Son of the late Ernest and Mary (Green) Steenrod, he was a life resident of the Bolivar and Canton area. A 1939 graduate of Bolivar High School. He had served as a service manager for Martig Motors and retired from Eppy's Chevrolet. Member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir member. A WWII Army Air Corps veteran serving with the 396th Air Servce Squad attached to the Flying Tigers, He is also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Faye Steenrod on Feb. 19, 2004, three brothers and three sisters. Survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; David and Bonnie Steenrod of Louisville, Donald and Sally Steenrod, Dennis and Marilyn Steenrod all of Canton. Six grandchildren, Heather and Brian Steenrod, Tricia Rowles, Stepanie Chapanar, Donald and Jeff Bartolet; five great grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Christopher, Sydney and Zephan. Services will be Monday May 17, 2004 at 10:00 am in Otterbein United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Raynes and Rev. Paul Gerycz officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday 2-5 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and 9:30-10:00 am on Monday at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Otterbein UMC Memorial Fund at 6025 Shepler Church Ave SW., Canton, OH 44706.
