Eugene W. "Jeep" Griffith
Age 83, of Ashland and formerly of Canton, passed away Monday November 29, 2010 in Smithville Western Care Center, Wooster. He was born December 23, 1926 in Canton to the late Webster and Willa (Warner) Griffith. Jeep was a Canton resident most of his life and a 1944 graduate of Canton Township High School. He was a WWII Navy veteran. Jeep was a former co-owner/operator of W.C. Griffith and Sons for 43 years, member of the Canton Baptist Temple and the VFW Post #3047. He enjoyed his time he spent as a flagman at Lakeville Speedway. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by first wife, Audrey Griffith in 1992; second wife, Ruth E. Griffith in 2000; two brothers, Glen and Larry Griffith. He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Eastman) Manning-Griffith; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Debbie Griffith of Canton South; one daughter and son-in-law, Chyrel and Ernie Hough of Lawrenceville, GA; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two step-children and spouses, Mickey and Steve McCallister of Mansfield, Cheryl Hoover of Mansfield; four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Lucille Griffith of Dalton, Ron and Barbara Griffith of Dexter, MI, Cliff and Nancy Griffith of East Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday December 2, 2010 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Dave Harmon officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery.
