Esther Slutz Reed
Esther M. Reed, beloved aunt, passed away peacefully at her home Monday August 1, 2006. She was born October 17, 1912 in Canton to the late Charles B. and Wilhelmina (Sagermann) Slutz. Esther was a longtime, faithful member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in East Canton where she was active in the Mary and Joseph Sunday School Class and Mary Martha Circle. She was a member of Daughters of America Pocahontas Council #247 and AARP Osnaburg Chapter #2934. Esther was also an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She graduated from Waynesburg High School where she was valedictorian of her class. She retired from the Timken Company in 1977 after 34 years of service. In addition to her parents, Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde C. Reed in 1969; seven sisters, Violet, Olive, Helen and Margaret Slutz, Hazel Daniels Boley, Pearl L. Gregory and Dorothy J. Ehret; one brother, Charles B. Slutz Jr., who was killed in WWII. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Clara Reed; nieces, Mary Lou (Jan) Cush, Shirley (Tom) Hatheway, Charlene (Michael) Salapack, Donna M. Scheetz and Marcella Tokas; nephews, Fred (Carol) Boggs, Robert (Linda) Ehret, Paul (Dee) Ehret, Dr. Donald Ehret, Dennis Quinn and Bobby Reed. Esther is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In the last few years of her life she enjoyed the company of her cat "Loverboy." Funeral services will be Monday August 7, 2006 at 11:00am in St. Paul's United Church of Christ with Rev. Clark Kandel officiating. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery, Waynesburg. Friends may call Sunday 4-6pm in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ at 306 W.
