Erma D. Farkas
During life’s journey, we are blessed to know special people that touch our hearts. Erma was one of those people. Age 95, of Canton died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in Meadow Wind Nursing Home. Born December 9, 1920 in Moultrie, Ohio to the late Cary and Hazel (Newcomer) Bates. She retired from Aultman Hospital in 1984 after 19 years of service. She attended First Free Methodist Church in Canton and was active in the Women’s Missionary International. Erma was a charter member and last survivor of the Garfield Gabby Girls. Also a member of the Minerva AARP Chapter #3720 and the Jolly Sixties. Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer G. Farkas in 1991; one son, Larry Farkas; one sister, Opal Cunin. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ron Helson of Canton; a grandson, Shane Helson of Canton; one sister, Dorothy Morrow of Minerva; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Meadow Wind Health Care for the excellent care given mom, and also Harbor Light Hospice for their special care for mom and the family. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 1:30 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave with Pastor Ray Gill officiating. Interment in Liberty Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service on Thursday from 12:00 – 1:30 pm.
