Elden H. Taylor
Age 94, of Canton passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 in Altercare of Nobles Pond. Born November 9, 1923 in Canton, Ohio to the late Howard and Elva (Heinbuch) Taylor. He was a Canton resident most of his life having also resided in Peoria, AZ. Elden was a 1941 graduate of Canton Township High School and had played the trombone with the North Industry Jr. Order Band. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran having served with the Army Corps of Engineers. Elden was retired from the Timken Company in 1988 with 23 years of service and had served with his father with the McFarren and Taylor Construction Company. He was a life member of Mt Zion Community Church where he served as a lay minister and in many other capacities. He also was a member of Sun City Nazarene Church in Arizona and volunteered 17 years in Peoria, AZ with the World Gospel Missions. Elden served 24 years on the Canton Local Board of Education which is the longest serving board member to date. He also served as vice-president of Camp Sychar in Mt. Vernon, OH. Preceded in death by two sisters, Arlene Blanchard and Lucille Breniser. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Roberta A. “Bobby” (Evans) Taylor; one son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Jill Taylor of Canton; one daughter, Dr. Melanie Taylor of Whittier, CA; five grandchildren, Kari (Rodney) Reid, Douglas (Krissy) Taylor, Katie Taylor, Lusanda (Moe) Hostetler, Nangamso (Jeremy) Valentine; five greatgrandchildren and dear nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017 at 11:00 am in Mt Zion Community Church, 2637 Baum St SE, Canton, OH 44707. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 pm in Mt Zion Community Church and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 – 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to Mt Zion Community Church.
