Edward G. Oyster
Age 86 of Canton went home to be with the Lord Tuesday October 5, 2021, in Aultman Compassionate Care. He was born December 26, 1934, in Alliance, OH to the late George S. and Kathleen (Lambert) Oyster. Edward was a 1952 graduate of Marlboro High School where he was a member of the track team and a member of the first state champion football team. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1956-1960, a U.S. Navy veteran from 1964-1966 where served aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Gulf on Tonkin during the Vietnam War and retired from the U.S. Army reserve in 1994 as a staff sergeant. He was a member of Trinity Gospel Temple. Edward retired from Buckeye Packaging and was formerly employed by Teledyne-Monarch Rubber in Hartville for many years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol E. Oyster in 2020; an infant brother, Thomas V.; and one sister, Kathleen S. Rae. Edward is survived by one son, David Oyster; one daughter, Cheryl (Rick) Seifer; five grandchildren, Tonia, David Jr., David Stull, Ricky III and Randi; three great-grandchildren, Maddy, Michael and Mallory. Funeral services will be Saturday October 9, 2021, at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Pastor Dr. Sharon Carnes officiating. Friends and family will be received one hour before services on Saturday (10-11am). Burial with military honors, will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
