Edward M. "Mel" Fruchey
Edward M. "Mel" Fruchey, age 91, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 23, 2008 in Aultman Hospital. He was born March 18, 1917 in New Philadelphia, OH. to the late William Harry and Mary Mintie (Barcus) Fruchey. Mel retired from Wilkof Morris Steel after 20 years of service, prior to which he was employed by Gussett Boiler. He was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple and the former Canton South Lions Club. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alfreda M. Fruchey; one son, Milton L. Fruchey in 1996; four brothers, Roy, Eugene, Emery and Virgil Fruchey; three sisters, Edna Fruchey, Ethel Laubscher and Emma Bauders. He is survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Jean Fruchey of Perry Twp., Kevin and Robin Fruchey of Bradenton, FL., Karen and Mitch McLay of Diamond, OH., Terri Anne and Martin Smith of N. Canton; 11 great grandchildren, Nikkole, Zachary, Allen-Michael, Megan, Derek, Samantha, Christopher, Jordan, Joe, Hazel and Henry; daughter-in-law and spouse, Kay and Richard Powell of Perry Twp; one brother, Milton Fruchey of Bradenton, Fl; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will Saturday November 29, 2008 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Delaney Young officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
