Edward S. Farkas Sr.
Edward S. Farkas Sr., age 85, of Canton, passed away Monday, November 24, 2008 in Aultman Hospital. He was born April 8, 1923 in Jacobs Creek, PA, to the late Ziegmund and Maria (Szintai) Farkas. Edward was a 1941 graduate of Timken High School and a Canton area resident most of his life. He was a WWII Army Veteran and retired from Consolidated Freightways after more than 35 years of service. Edward was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple where he was active in the bus ministry. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Marylee Farkas in 1989; second wife, Ruth Farkas in 2003; five brothers and three sisters. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Cathy Buchanan of Canton, Terri and Jim Curtis of Urbana, OH; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Carol Farkas Jr. of Massillon, John and Pam Farkas of Canton; one step-son and spouse, Larry and Deb Stover of Canton; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday November 26, 2008 at 11:00am in the Canton Baptist Temple with Dave Harmon officiating. Interment with military honors in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tuesday (today) 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. and one hour before services at the church (10-11am).
