Edgar Smith Jones
Edgar Smith Jones, age 73, of East Canton, passed away, Friday January 13, 2006 in his home following an extended battle with lung cancer. He was born, January 7, 1933 in West Union, WV, to the late Edgar H. and Grace M. (Smith) Jones. Edgar proudly served his country during the Korean War having served with the 101st Army Airborne from 1953 to 1955. He retired from Quaker State after 26 years of service and was formerly employed by Republic Steel. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Jim Jones on April 8, 2004; one sister, Phylis Jones; one brother, Dave Jones. He is survived by his wife, Icy Mae (Elder) Jones to whom he was married 49 years; one son, Chuck Jones of East Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Dan Carmine Sr. of East Canton; five grandchildren, Jasin and Justin Jones, Jessica Crank, Amanda Jones, and Ryan Marteney; one great grandson, Ian Watts; two sisters, Jackie Burgess and Janice Cox both of West Union, WV; one brother, Joe Jones of Fairfax, VA. The family would like to extend a deep and heartfelt thank you to the Aultman Home Care for their tireless help and tender care. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am in Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Gene Carter officiating. Interment in Mapleton Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-5pm and one hour before services on Monday (10-11:00am).
