Douglas A. "Duke" VanPelt
Age 55, of East Sparta, passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014 in his home following a brief illness. He was born April 10, 1959 in Canton to the late George and Ardene (Mattison) VanPelt. Doug was a life resident of East Sparta and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was formerly employed by Canton Cycles for 15 years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles aerie #3228, Sandy Valley. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Bridget Kaminsky; one step-sister, Terri Willard. Doug is survived by one son, Kevin VanPelt; one brother, Ken (Donna) VanPelt; two sisters, Cindy Gill and Susan Scipione; step-mother, Ellen E. VanPelt; step-brother, Scott (Margie) Briggs; special nephew and niece, Tyler Gill and Nicole VanPelt; great-niece and great-nephew, Mattison Spitza and Parker Spitza. In keeping with Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be Saturday July 12, 2014 at 2:00pm at The Club, 1757 Cleveland Ave SW, Canton, OH 44707.
