Dorothy L. Charton
Age 82, formerly of East Canton, passed away Thursday February 13, 2014 in her home at the Canton Regency. She was born March 8, 1931 in Canton to the late Frederick and Zella (Dyer) Gogerty. Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of Canton South High School and was formerly employed by The Timken Company and GE Capital. She was a member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church, Louisville; formerly a member of the former Martin Luther Lutheran Church where she was very active for many years. She was a member of the Gyro club of Canton. She is preceded in death by one brother, Tom Gogerty; four sisters, Alice Smith, Grace Dye Braucher, Mary Whiteleather and Ruth Gogerty. She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Charton to whom she was married 63 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Major General Daniel Hahn (US Army retired) of Jackson Township, Barbara and Jamie Savarin of Louisville; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Joe) Wakeley, Tom (Stacey) Hahn, Andrew Savarin and Laura Savarin; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Annabelle, Garrett, Grady and Griffin; three sisters, Lois (Ralph) Dazey, Alma Dazey and Marilyn Fox; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be Monday February 17, 2014 at 11:00am in the Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church at 930 S. Nickel Plate St., Louisville, OH 44641 with Pastor Karin Himstedt officiating. Friends may call Sunday 3-6pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services on Monday at the church (10-11am). A private family interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Foltz Community Center or the charity of your choice.
