Donna J. Burwell
Age 72, of Canton, passed away Monday July 19, 2010 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. She was born February 26, 1938 in Canton to the late Roscoe and Betty (Chandler) Cartiea. Donna was a life resident of the Canton area and was formerly active with the Summit County Children's Services Board. Donna and her husband, Wilfred served as foster parents for more than 70 foster children over 48 years. Donna was very active in both her children and grandchildren's lives; they gave her great joy and satisfaction. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one half-brother, Edward Chandler Cassidy; one half-sister, Jerry Ray Mayle. She is survived by her husband, Wilfred E. Burwell to whom she was married 49 years; five children and their spouses, Sharon and Kevin McDonald, David and Darla Burwell, Carol and Andy Howard, Julie Burwell and Mike Allen all of Canton, Danielle Orth Burwell of Barberton; eight grandchildren, Paige, Nichole, Jordan, Eric, Alexandra, Cassidy, Jacob and Doug; one great-granddaughter, Makenna; one half-brother, Greg and Cindy Cartiea of Canton; one half-sister, Loretta Cartiea-Scarpetti of Millersburg; numerous foster children and foster grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday July 23, 2010 at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour before services on Friday (10-11am).
